Fernleaf Hinoki Cypress Tree
Beskrivning
Fern-like foliage on an elegant upright evergreen
The delicate foliage of Fernleaf Hinoki Cypress Tree resembles fern fronds more than typical Hinoki cypress branches. Each arching, rich green branch tapers to a fine point, giving the tree an airy texture and distinctive upright form.
Its handsome, open habit makes an attractive focal point and also blends well into an evergreen screen. Plant it where its unusual branching can be appreciated, and prune selectively if a denser, more compact shape is preferred. It grows best in moist, well-drained soil with full sun or light shade.
Planting & Care
1. Planting: Plant or repot within 4 weeks of arrival. Remove the stake and ties at planting, as these are only for shipping. Choose a site with full sun or light shade and moist, well-drained soil. Dig a hole as deep as the root ball and about twice as wide, then plant with the root flare level with the surrounding ground.
2. Watering: Water deeply after planting and regularly during the first growing season. Keep the soil evenly moist but never waterlogged. Once established, water during extended hot or dry periods.
3. Pruning: Prune lightly in late winter or early spring to maintain a compact shape or remove damaged growth. Avoid cutting deeply into old, bare wood, which may not produce new growth.
4. Fertilizing: Apply a slow-release fertilizer formulated for evergreen trees in early spring if growth is weak or the soil is nutrient-poor. Avoid overfertilizing, as steady, moderate growth supports the best form.
