Green Screen™ offers year-round privacy in a much narrower footprint than its parent, ‘Green Giant.’ This naturally occurring sport grows about half as fast while still providing relatively rapid coverage, making it a practical choice for property lines, compact yards, and other spaces where width is limited.

Feathery sprays of lush green, fragrant foliage create a dense screen and add structure throughout the year. Its elegantly slender form naturally tapers to a spire-like tip, maintaining a tidy appearance with little to no pruning.

Planting & Care

1. Planting: Plant or repot within 4 weeks of arrival. Remove the stake and ties at planting, as these are only for shipping. Choose a site in full sun to partial shade with moist, well-drained soil. Dig a hole as deep as the root ball and about twice as wide, keeping the root flare level with or slightly above the surrounding soil. Water thoroughly and add a 2- to 3-inch mulch layer without piling it against the trunk.

2. Watering: Water deeply and regularly during the first growing season to establish a strong root system. Keep the soil consistently moist but not soggy. Once established, water during extended hot or dry periods, especially if planted in an exposed location.

3. Pruning: Little pruning is needed to maintain its narrow, tapered shape. Remove damaged or crossing branches as necessary, and lightly trim in late spring or early summer if shaping is desired. Avoid cutting back into old, leafless wood.

4. Fertilizing: Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer formulated for evergreen trees in early spring if growth is weak or the soil is nutrient-poor. Avoid overfertilizing, which can encourage soft growth and reduce the plant’s naturally dense habit.
