Gripple Dynamic | High-Load Wire Rope Fastener
The Gripple Dynamic is the high-load member of the Gripple wire rope fastener family. At the same rope diameter it carries more than three times the load of the Lockable: 750 kg along a 4 mm rope and 1,750 kg along a 6 mm rope. The body is ZA2 zinc alloy, the spring is 302 stainless steel and the end caps are UV-stabilised, so the fastener is built for exposed and outdoor runs. Sold as single units.

Why use a Gripple Dynamic?
Choose the Dynamic when the load, not the rope diameter, is the deciding factor. A Lockable Gripple on a 4 mm rope stops at 220 kg along the rope; the Dynamic on the same rope is rated at 750 kg. That can mean staying on a lighter rope and a lighter anchor instead of stepping up a size. Against a crimped or clamped termination, it is made by hand in seconds and needs no swaging tool.
Where is the Gripple Dynamic used?
Heavier suspension drops, catenary wires carrying more than lighting, bracing wires, and outdoor runs where the rope is exposed to weather - work where a standard fastener would be at the edge of its rating. For lighter loads at the same rope diameter, see the Gripple Lockable.
How to use?
- Pass a length of wire rope through one of the two channels.
- Loop the rope around the anchor point, or around any suitable bracing point.
- Return it through the other channel, pulling at least 75 mm (3") of rope through.
- Pull on the load-bearing section and tension the line. The internal wedges bite harder as the load comes on - this is what carries the load.
No tool is needed to make the termination; a tensioning tool is only needed to pull a long span up to tension. Best practice is to fit a thimble at each termination so the rope is not bent around a bare anchor.

In catenary use the rope tension is higher than the load being carried and rises sharply as sag is reduced, so calculate tension from span and sag rather than reading the load directly from that column.
