Hermann Naue Spruce Tree
Beskrivning
Bright spring cones on a compact blue-green mound
Each spring, this dwarf evergreen becomes covered in bright pinkish cones that stand out against fresh new growth, darker mature foliage, and older tan cones. Thin, bluish-green needles line the dense branches, creating attractive color and texture throughout the year.
Slow growing with a low, spreading form, ‘Hermann Naue’ fits neatly into rock gardens, small beds, and other compact spaces. Plant it in a sunny, well-drained location where its unusual cones and tidy shape can be easily enjoyed.
Planting & Care
1. Planting: Plant or repot within 4 weeks of arrival. Remove the stake and ties at planting, as these are only for shipping. Choose a site with full sun and well-drained soil. Dig a hole as deep as the root ball and about twice as wide, keeping the top of the root ball level with the surrounding soil.
2. Watering: Water deeply after planting and regularly during the first growing season. Once established, water during extended dry periods, allowing the soil to drain between waterings. Avoid consistently wet or waterlogged conditions.
3. Pruning: Little pruning is needed due to its naturally dense, compact habit. Remove dead, damaged, or misplaced branches in late winter or early spring, and avoid cutting back into old, bare wood.
4. Fertilizing: Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer formulated for evergreens in early spring if growth is weak or the soil is poor. Avoid overfertilizing, which can encourage loose growth and reduce its compact form.
