Silver Ponyfoot Plant
Beskrivning
Shimmering foliage for ground cover and containers
Silver Ponyfoot Plant forms a low, trailing mat of metallic silver-gray foliage that brightens sunny, dry spaces. Its low water needs make it well suited to xeriscapes, where it can serve as living mulch, suppress weeds, and help control erosion on gentle slopes.
Its cascading stems also make a dramatic “spiller” in hanging baskets, window boxes, and mixed containers. Plant it where the foliage can trail over an edge or spread between drought-tolerant plants for soft texture and striking contrast.
Planting & Care
1. Planting: Plant or repot within 4 weeks of arrival. Choose a sunny location with fast-draining soil, or use a well-draining potting mix in a container with drainage holes. Space plants 12–18 inches apart when using them as ground cover.
2. Watering: Water regularly while the roots become established, allowing the soil to dry slightly between waterings. Once established, water sparingly; avoid consistently wet soil, which can cause root problems.
3. Pruning: Trim trailing stems as needed to control the spread or maintain a fuller shape. Remove damaged or thinning growth, and cut back longer stems if the plant begins to look sparse.
4. Fertilizing: Feed lightly in spring with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer. Container-grown plants may benefit from a diluted liquid fertilizer during active growth, but avoid overfertilizing.
